BETTY WAS RIGHT! GET OUT OF THE HOUSE, LADIES!!

Fifty years ago, Betty Friedan made a startling prediction in her controversial best seller, “The Feminine Mystique” - If American housewives would embark on lifelong careers, she claimed, they would be happier and healthier, their marriages would be more satisfying, and their children would thrive.

Today, with almost two-thirds of married mothers employed and women the sole or main breadwinnerin 40 percent of households, according to a Pew study released Wednesday, we can test competing points of view on the subject.

Ms. Friedan wins!
At all income levels, stay-at-home mothers report more sadness, anger, and episodes of diagnosed depression than their employed counterparts. And so too do the children of the depressed moms suffer from higher rates of anxiety.
Look, folks, I've been talking about this for years, and I still am. Self-actualization... SELF-actualization, not self-sacrifice, is the best thing you can do for yourself and anyone in your life, including and especially your kids.
Generativity is a genuine need for a vital adult. Do what you love to do in the world. Get out of the house!

And thanks, Betty!
